Darling: A German spy is giving away every one of our battle plans.
Melchett: You look surprised, Blackadder.
Blackadder: I certainly am sir. I didn't realize we had any battle plans.
Melchett: Of course we've got plans! How else do you think our battles are directed?
Blackadder: Our battles are directed, sir?
Melchett: Of course they are. Directed accoring to the grand plan.
Blackadder: Oh I see. And would that be the plan to continue with total slaughter until everybody's dead except Field Marshal Haig, Lady Haig, and their tortoise, Alan?
Trivia
There are in fact two versions of the bonfire scene. Although most countries use the intended censored version (where somebody coughs right as Edmund says the F word) there are a few US editions where you can hear him swearing uninterrupted. See more...
Blackadder (1986) - 69 mistakes in entire show
starring Hugh Laurie, Miranda Richardson, Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, Tim McInnerny, Tony Robinson (add more)
Across whole show
Factual error: In Blackadder's Christmas Carol, during the Elizabethan part of the 1988 Christmas special, Queen Elizabeth asks Edmund if he has any last words before she chops off his head and sticks it on the Christmas tree. Christmas trees weren't introduced to England until Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria) brought it from his homeland in 1840.
The Foretelling (series 1, episode 1)
Born to Be King (series 1, episode 2)
Continuity: When McAngus empties his bag on the table and the head falls on it we see the back of the head is turned against the camera. When it cuts to a close up of the head the head is facing in the direction of the previous camera take. When it cuts again the back of the head is turned against the camera.
Visible crew/equipment: When Harry tells Blackadder to be in charge of the welcoming of King Richard's return, as Blackadder turns around and walks against the fireplace saying "12 months of chasing sheep.", if you look closely on the top of the fireplace you should be able to see the shadow of the boom mic moving. It's quite hard to see, but it's there.
The Archbishop (series 1, episode 3)
The Black Seal (series 1, episode 6)
Plot hole: In 'The Foretelling', it is said that Richard IV reigned for "13 glorious years" with a caption showing 1485-1498. 'The Black Seal' starts on St. Junipers' Day, 1498, but Blackadder spends 12 months locked up with Mad Gerald. So when the Royal Family are finally murdered it is actually 1499.
All of series 2 (series 2)
Other: The episode "Bells" and the episode "Head" appear to be inversed in their order - Lord Percy has a beard at the beginning of "Bells," and shaves it off. However, in "Head," he's got it back. In all of the other episodes, he has no beard. Also, the song at the end of "Head" mentions Lord Blackadder's origins (it mentions Edmund's great-grandfather), which makes it more a follow-on from the 1st series.
