Updated recently There is a wanted poster for Mr. Big seen in Max's apartment during the movie's opening credits. Mr. Big was the villain in the TV show's pilot episode.
Entry The photo of Agent 99 before her surgery is of Barbara Feldon, who played 99 in the TV series.
Entry At one point in the movie, when the Chief is talking to the President, the President says "nucular weapons" once or twice. Frustrated, the Chief says something to the effect of, "For the last time, it's nuclear." This is an obvious jab at President George W. Bush, who was notorious for invariably saying "nucular" instead of "nuclear" when giving speeches.
Entry In the scene in which Max drives the convertible out of the museum, all three cars shown - the red Sunbeam Tiger from the museum, the gold Opel GT driven by Bernie Kopell, and the blue VW Karmann Ghia convertible - were all cars driven by Maxwell Smart in the original series.
Entry When Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 are flying to Russia, the airplane they are on reads Yarmy International Airlines. Yarmy was the real life last name of actor Don Adams, who played the original Maxwell Smart in the TV series. He was born Donald Yarmy.
Entry While they are both capitalized, CONTROL and KAOS aren't acronyms, and don't stand for anything.
Entry The original Siegfried, Bernie Kopell, makes a cameo as the driver of the Opel that nearly hits Smart. Unfortunately, other members of the original show were not able to make appearances: Don Adams (Maxwell Smart) - died September 2005. Edward Platt (Chief) - died March 1974. Robert Karvelas (Larrabee) - died December 1991.
Entry At the beginning of the movie, it is showing notes that Maxwell Smart is writing. One of the notes mentions 'The Claw'. The Claw was a villain on the original "Get Smart" series, and most probably coincidentally, the original Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) did the voice of Inspector Gadget, whose arch nemesis was 'The Claw'.
