Entry In the scene where John turns on the magnetic field, the equipment he uses to turn up the power is the throttle of the Saitek X45 with a Cyberdyne plate over the base.
Entry Former WWE superstar Chyna was an original candidate to play T-X.
Entry The cat lady's cat at the Animal Hospital is called Hercules. This is a tribute to Arnold Scharznegger who played Hercules in the 1970 movie, "Hercules In New York", his first film.
Entry This is one shot that is in all 3 movies. When Arnold gets on a motorcycle there is a shot of his foot. As the shot continues you see the camera pan up as Arnold turns around on the bike.
Entry The T1s in the film are actually real-life robots, nothing about them is computer-generated.
Entry The man who yells at John when his car is hit is Billy Lucas, Arnold's personal stuntman. Lucas has stunted for many of Arnold's movies including Terminator 2.
Entry To answer a couple of possible contradictions, Sarah's death does not contradict the first movie. She could have died from leukemia several years after Judgment Day. Since they delayed it, she died before it happened. Second, Reese says they won and smashed SkyNet's main defense grid. Even in the future it wasn't possible to kill SkyNet, only to take away its means to fight. I imagine every machine would follow its last instructions until destroyed, ie. kill humans. They would have to destroy every last machine and manufacturing facility to completely win. Third, destroying Cyberdyne did nothing, Cyberdyne was developing the hardware to enable SkyNet to function efficiently. CRS was developing the software that was SkyNet's essence. This movie did a very good job of fixing the time travel contradictions.
Entry The movie didn't have enough money to shoot the scene where the Terminator was being smashed through the building. So Arnold Schwarzeneggar paid for it with his own money. The total was $1 or 2 million. He said that was a scene he was looking forward to and he really wanted it in the film.
Entry In the movie, Kate's fiance Scott is referred to as "Scott Mason", but in the credits, he is listed as "Scott Petersen", they changed the dialogue of his name in light of Scott Peterson, the man accused of killing his wife and unborn son in California.
Entry When the Terminator reboots himself in the hangar in order to get rid of the influence of the T-X, the scrolling text includes "Quicktime Player - Access" and "MP3.com - No Access."
Entry Skynet exists. It is a Belgian Internet provider, a spin-off of the former national phone company.
Entry Dr. Silberman, the psychiatrist from the first two movies, makes a cameo appearance in "The Rise of the Machines" and makes some comments about seeing "crazy stuff" when in a hostage situation. This is an homage to an un-filmed scene from "Judgement Day" (1991) which featured Dr. Silberman being taken away in a straight-jacket after the T-1000 attack at the hospital.
Entry When Catherine tells the Terminator where John Conner was after the Terminator promises to let her go, the Terminator reneges on his promise and when she protests, he says "I lied." This is a reference to another Schwarzenegger film "Commando" (1985) where Col. John Matrix says the same line to Sully after he reneges on his promise.
Entry A small piece of green screen was used on Scharznegger's (Terminator) face to aid the special effects crew with making him look more accurately damaged.
Entry There is a very funny clip on the DVD where Arnold Scharznegger plays Air Force MSGT Candy. He is shown being measured for the T-101 prototype in a film made to sell SkyNet to the federal government. He has a really silly southern accent in a dubbed-in voice. One of the Pentagon officials comments that "I'm not sure about the voice." One of the CRS employees looks at him and says in Scharznegger's dubbed voice. "We can change that." It's both amusing and explains where SkyNet got the T101 model.
Entry The scene where the chase between the 2 terminators with the large crane vehicle was shot twice. The directors didn't like the way the crane crashed and they bought another crane and re-shot the scene at an additional cost of over $1,000,000.
Entry Originally, Sophia Bush was cast as Kate Brewster. After filming for a few days, director Jonathan Mostow let her go and cast Claire Danes instead because he felt that Bush looked too young for the part.
