When Gandalf gets the doors open to the mines, the doors open and you can see Gimli's axe on the right. The camera angle changes to a close-up of Gimli and he is seen in a sitting position smoking his pipe turning his head to the doors. The camera angle changes to a wide shot and he is seen standing with his axe in his hand. See more...

Trivia

When Frodo falls over in the snow and loses the Ring, there's a close-up of the Ring, with Frodo in the background. A giant ring of six inches in diameter had to be used to keep both Frodo and the Ring in focus. See more...

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) - 14 quotes

Directed by Peter Jackson, starring Billy Boyd, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Dominic Monaghan, Elijah Wood, Hugo Weaving, Ian Holm, Ian McKellen, John Rhys-Davies, Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen (add more)

Please note: Almost all the timecodes are from the Extended edition. Because it's split across two discs this makes timecodes rather tricky, so unless stated, the timecodes are from the beginning of the relevant disc. I know this causes confusion when ordering by time, but it's easier when actually watching them.

Frodo: I am just a hobbit, Gandalf, you are a great wizard. You take the Ring!

Gandalf: [Backing away] No! No! I must not take the Ring. It will work through me, and I will do great evil, thinking I am doing great good.

Sam: Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me.

Elrond: No, indeed. It is hardly possible to separate you even when he is summoned to a secret Council and you are not.

Gimli: Nobody tosses a Dwarf!

Bilbo: I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Frodo: I wish the ring never came to me.

Gandalf: So do all who have carried its burden, but that is not for us to decide. All there is to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you.

Gandalf: Confound it all, Samwise Gamgee, have you been eavesdropping?

Sam Gamgee: I ain't been dropping no eaves, sir, honest! I was just cutting the grass under the window there, if you follow me.

Gandalf: A little late for trimming the verge, don't you think?

Sam Gamgee: I heard raised voices.

Gandalf: What did you hear? Speak!

Sam Gamgee: Oh, nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a Ring, and a Dark Lord, and something about the end of the world, but please Mr. Gandalf, sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything... un-natural.

Legolas: Lembas bread. One small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man!

Merry: How many did you eat?

Pippin: Four.

Pippin: What's that?

Merry: This my friend, is a pint.

Pippin: It comes in pints?

Gandalf: A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to!

Aragorn: Are you frightened?

Frodo: Yes.

Aragorn: Not nearly frightened enough. I know what hunts you.

Elrond: Nine companions... So be it. You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring.

Pippin: Great. Where are we going?

Merry: We're going too! You'd have to send us home tied up in a sack to stop us!

Pippin: Anyways, you need people of intelligence on this type of mission...quest...thing.

Merry: Well that rules you out, Pip.

Frodo: It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.

Gandalf: Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.

Aragorn: Gentlemen! We do not stop 'til nightfall.

Pippin: But what about breakfast?

Aragorn: You've already had it.

Pippin: We've had one, yes. But what about second breakfast?

[Aragorn stares at him, then walks off.]

Merry: Don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.

Pippin: What about elevensies? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?

Merry: I wouldn't count on it.
