After Depp talks about the Manson family, look to the right of the hitchhiker. You will see (what I'm assuming to be) a white crew truck as they drive past. [You're assuming it is a white crew truck, but don't know. It could be a construction truck, a truck full of migrant workers, the hitchhiker may be hitching because his truck broke down, almost anything.]

When Duke is being chased by the police car as he is hotel-hopping, the police car used is a 1978 Plymouth Fury, but the movie is set in '71. See more...
Trivia
Actor Johnny Depp first met Hunter S. Thompson in Aspen, Colorado just before New Year's Eve, 1995. Depp left that initial meeting wondering why Fear and Loathing had not been made into a film. The actor subsequently invited Thompson to do a one-night gig at the Depp's nightclub, The Viper Room on September 29, 1996 with the intention of asking the writer about doing a film version of his book. The opportunity never materialized but the two began corresponding via faxes. Early one day, Thompson called Depp on the phone and asked him if he would consider playing Raoul Duke if a film was ever made of Fear and Loathing. "Without hesitation, I said, 'You bet!'" Depp recalls. By the Spring of 1997, Depp had moved into the basement of Owl Farm, Thompson's home in Aspen in order to do proper research for the role. Depp was given complete access to every memento the writer saved from his 1971 trip to Las Vegas. The actor read through the writer's notebooks (which included an unpublished chapter entitled, "The Coconut Scene," which Gilliam placed in the film) only to realize that "the freakiest thing was that it was all real, that the reality was as insane as the book." He rummaged through Thompson's wardrobe at the time: Hawaiian shirts, a patchwork jacket, a safari hat, and a silver medallion given to him by Acosta (Dr. Gonzo). Thompson graciously allowed Depp to wear it all in the film. Thompson even let Depp borrow the red shark: the giant fire engine red convertible that the author took to Vegas, which was also used in the film. See more...

In the scene where Duke and his photographer are riding in the desert, right before those guys come up with the dead deer on the jeep, look at the photographer's mouth. He is talking but you don't hear him. [The entire scene is shot from a third-person point-of-view but taking into account Hunter's current state of mind (blown out on drugs). Therefore he could have simply never heard the guy talking.]
When the photographer comes to meet Raoul (who is crouched behind the mini-bar) there is a tray with an ice bucket and glasses. As he is explaining the various bikes present at the sign in for the race the ice bucket disappears. [Johnny Depp actually grabs the icebucket even though you don't see it but if you watch the photographer carefully you can see a piece of ice almost hit him. And when they show Johnny Depp behind the bar he quitly pops up and you can see a ice cube in his right hand.]
When Duke is having the LSD licked off his sleeve in the bathroom of the Matrix, a man walks in and has 'his life ruined forever'. The mistake is that this man zips up his pants before using the bathroom, he zips then up while entering. It is obvious that this is the entrance because of the backwards 'MEN' writing on the doors' window. [Yes you can tell he is entering the bathroom with his fly down and i know many men who unzip their flies before they get to the urinal.]
In the scene where Duke is speaking to Dr. Gonzo from the phone booth after being chased by the cop; the scene is being played backwards, as there is smoke disappearing into a car behind the phone booth. [The scene was playing backwards to emphasise the mentality of Raoul Duke. He hadn't slept and was in and out of drug-induced frenzies.]
In the beginning of the film when Duke is going through all the stuff they brought with them he points to a bottle of liqour and calls it tequilla. Yet it is clearly a bottle of Wild Turkey. [The bottle of 'tequilla' is really hard to see and may be actually Wild Turkey, but even so, the contents could be tequilla. I've often filled alchohol bottles with something else just because the bottle is smaller.]
In the scene where Duke is being persued by Highway patrolman Gary Busey, he is looking in the rear view mirror while his left hand is turning on the left turn signal (missing it the first time then succesfully on the second attempt). The next shot is him saying something about the officer not knowing what to make of the turn signal indicating he's about to pull over and the camera shot clearly shows Duke turning on the left turn signal which we have already seen him do. [It is true that in the pan-and-scan version it shows him turning his left blinker on twice; but in the widescreen version, it only shows him doing it once. ]
