When Mr. Freeze threatens to freeze all of Gotham City, he has a big snowglobe in his hand. He freezes the snowglobe, then shatters it in is hand. When he crushes it open with his hand, the inside of the snowglobe is empty. There is no water, frozen or unfrozen, that comes out of the snowglobe when it breaks. See more...

Batman and Robin (1997) - 25 corrections

Directed by Joel Schumacher, starring Alicia Silverstone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris O'Donnell, George Clooney, Michael Gough, Uma Thurman (add more)

Genres: Action, Crime, Thriller

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Entry After Mr. Freeze freezes Robin, he takes the diamond and freezes a door to block the opening in the wall. Freeze has made it very clear that his gun can shoot to far targets, so why would the ice gun just stop shooting and freeze a sheet right in front of him? [Most likely mr. Freeze has designed his gun with several different settings and uses. A small switch near the trigger that would change the setting from long-range ray to short-range solid freezing would not be very conspicuous, but could be very useful.]
Entry In Freeze's opening heist when Batman throws a grenade through the wall, it leaves a regular hole. After the shot changes back to Batman coming through the hole, it's in the shape of a bat instead of the regular hole. [I don't think Batman throws a grenade. It's Robin who crashes through the door leaving a hole shaped like him on a bike. After that, all the shots from the door show a bat shaped hole.]
Entry It is illogical for The Riddler's green suit to be in the prisoner property locker at Arkham. The last time we saw Edward Nygma as The Riddler, he was wearing a white sequined suit with green question marks, so it is safe to assume this is what he was arrested in, and thus what should be in the property locker. The police may have seized his other costumes, but there is no reason for them to be at Arkham. [Just because you think there is no reason for it not to be there, doesn't make it true. Maybe they did store all of the Riddler's stuff at Arkham just like real prisons store personal effect for prisoners.]
Entry Freeze jumps out of his rocket after leaving Batman in there - when Robin and Batman jump out after him, they should reach terminal velocity. With everyone travelling at equal speed, it's not possible that the diamond could have been knocked from Freeze's hand with sufficient force for Robin to subsequently catch it. [This doesn't take into account factors such as air resistance, or aerodynamics.]
Entry At the charity convention, Mr. Freeze grabs a vine, but he barely jumps and yet he flies halfway across the room. [Freeze is a super-villian, wearing a cybernetic suit. Not only could his strength be augmented by such a suit, but the added mass the suit provides would also allow him to swing further with less effort.]
Entry Water is produced when you melt ice, right? So where is all the water when Batman, Robin and Batgirl thaw out Gotham City? [As is noted in another mistake, the heat source which melted the ice was hot enough to evaporate the water without letting it return to a liquid state.]
Entry Why is Two Face's costume in the prisoner property locker if he is dead and not in prison? [In his audio commentary for the DVD anthology, Schumacher states that he did not wish to have Batman kill anyone in Batman Forever. It is assumed Two-Face perished but Schumacher pointed out on the commentary track that we are not shown that Two-Face actually died, and one can assume that because his jacket is in the Arkham storage room in Batman & Robin, he also survived.]
Entry When Ivy is on top of the police station disabling the Bat Light with Bane, we see that the light is on. But there's no reason for it to be on in the first place, since there hasn't been any sort of emergency. [The bat-light has probably been activated because Bane and Poison Ivy have broken into the police station and climbed to the roof, or because they activated it themselves.]
Entry During her breathtaking entrance at the charity convention, Poison Ivy dives backwards into the arms of five men. But when she lands, she seems to have made a 180-degree spin in midair, because now her head is where her feet should have been. [Not true. She lands in the arms of the men, who then stand her up, after which she turns around to face the crowd.]
Entry Freeze says that the Ice Age killed the dinosaurs. Of course this is untrue, but done to show how mad Freeze has become. [Freeze could have believed that the Ice age did kill the dinosaurs. Even if he did knew that if it wasn't the ice age that killed the dinosaurs this comes down to a character mistake not a film mistake.]
Entry After Freeze freezes the furnace, why doesn't he at least get hurt when he lands, after falling that far? Batman and Robin had to use ropes. [Mr Freeze also used the ice stream from his gun to break his fall.]
Entry After defeating Poison Ivy, Batman states that they need to hurry and stop Mr. Freeze, yet he and his cohorts have the time to travel all the way back to the Batcave, change their clothes, and pick up new vehicles. [They had to get the proper gear to battle Mr. Freeze. Batman obviously knew that their normal gear would be insufficient to stop him, so they had to "hurry" to get properly equipped.]
Entry Maybe I am a fool, but I still can't find out why Mr. Freeze has in his own home a "hot/cold" switch. I mean, he needs cold to survive. It's like I had a "pure air/toxic gas" switch in my house. [If the rest of mankind needed 'toxic gas' to live, it would make sense. And Mr.Freeze has a suit to survive normal temperatures, so he wouldn't have problems.]
Entry When she first appears, Poison Ivy says to the Dr. Woodrue that her skin was replaced with chlorophyll. But chlorophyll is the substance that makes the green in the plants. So, if Ivy's skin was replaced with chlorophyll, why it isn't green? [Presumably she meant her -blood- was replaced with chlorophyl, since hemoglobin is chemically similar to it. Alternately, this may simply be an example of a villian blustering to sound impressive.]
Entry When Alicia Silverstone is hacking Alfred's computer, she looks at a photo of her mom. When she first looks at it, it has no writing on it. She looks back at the computer and then back at the photo, but this time it is signed "Love Peg." [The picture that says "Love, Peg" is the one in Alfred's room. Barbara is not looking at it, she's remembering it.]
Entry Poison Ivy becomes trapped in a plant that she was happily lying in before. [Not a mistake. There are reports of dogs visciously attacking someone even after living with them happily for years.]
Entry What kind of cruel prison is Arkham Asylum anyway? Mr. Freeze's life-sustaining "cold zone" in his cell is merely the size of his bed. Not only that, but this prison stores all the supervillains' equipment there as well? [First of all Arkham Asylum is a hospital/asylum for mental patients not a prison. It is not out of the realm of reasoning to think that they were not prepared to accept Freeze and his particular needs. So until they could provide the equipment to give him room to walk around he would have limited space. And the equipment is most likely there for the doctors/scientists to study.]
Entry If Alicia Silverstone was born in England and has lived in England all these years, why doesn't she have any accent? [She only studied in England, nobody said that she was born there.]
Entry When we first see the picture of Alfred's sister Margaret, the picture is on the right of his computer. Later on, when Alicia Silverstone is trying to hack into his computer, it's on the left. [Because so much time has elapsed between these two shots, it is possible that either Alfred or Barbara moved the picture at some stage. Possibly one of them knocked it over and had to move it, or shifted it so that it wouldn't distract them, whatever the reason would be, the bottom line is we can't negate the possibility that the frame was moved for whatever reason, between the two scenes.]
Entry When Alicia Silverstone is hacking into Alfred's computer she is asked to enter a password. Each time she enters on you can actually see what she is typing. In actuality, passwords will show up as a number of asterisks. [Not always true. Sometimes passwords can be shown in text. It depends on whoever made it, made it so it encrypts the password so when you type it, it becomes asterisks.]
